Cambodia Gambling Halls
Aug 4th, 2026 by Teagan

There is a captivating history to the Cambodia casinos that sit just across the border from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall gaming is not allowed. Eight casinos are established in a relatively small location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent location, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of controls constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; although, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 17:00, and though visas are apparently needed to pass, there are means around this, as is real of many borders.

The first Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and sixty table games. The Naga casino is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are 150 slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slots and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational vacation and hotel building that features a number of luxuries in addition to the gambling hall, which houses ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight table games.
