There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which gambling hall wagering is against the law. Eight casinos are situated in a relatively tiny space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime location, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing income accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; still, funding sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 1700, and despite the fact visas are apparently necessary to cross, there are methods around this, as is correct of many borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling hall, contains 150 slots and sixty tables. The Naga casino never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machine games and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and sixty six of the common gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive resort and hotel complex that highlights a number of comforts on top of the gambling den, which contains 10,000 square feet of 130 slots and 88 tables.
