Cambodia Casinos

There is an interesting background to the Cambodia casinos that sit just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which casino betting is prohibited. Eight gambling dens are situated in a relatively tiny space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime destination, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few restrictions constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; still, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 17:00, and though visas are supposedly necessary to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of most borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge casino, contains one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty gaming tables. The Naga casino is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machine games and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the common tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around vacation and hotel building that highlights a number of amenities on top of the casino, which houses 10,000 square feet of 130 slots and 88 table games.
